 will remember that when I joined the choir I pledged my loyalty to it. I will make every effort not to let other events prevent me from attending Choir Practices. On the other hand I expect that the Choirmaster will understand my absence on business and that he will NOT be pleased when I turn up with a bad cold or sore throat ,which could be infectious.

2. 1 will tell the Choirmaster when I am unable to attend and will not be offended if he pulls a face at me when I repeat the same excuse week after week.

3. 1 will arrive in good time before services and practices so that I do not cause delay to the start of either.

4. 1 will not expect to be allowed in the Choir for special events when I have only attended one or two of the practices out of the many which have been held for my benefit. I will make a special effort to attend the final practice for such an event -failing which I may expect to incur the Choirmaster's wrath.

5. I will not acquaint colleagues with the latest Westbury Park gossip when the rest of the choir are trying to listen to the Choirmaster.

6. When singing, I will listen carefully to those next to me. If I know the music better than they, I will try to help them rather than complain about their ineptitude. If not, I will try to learn from them, so that the overall effect is improved.

7. I will try to improve my singing by breathing in advance of the the last beat before an entry, and by smiling while singing.

8. I will not fidget at any time even though the sermon has been dragging on for ages. I will not create a distraction by rustling sweet papers or tins of throat lozenges.
. 1 will not use quiet passages to show the congregation how good my voice is. I will try to blend my voice in with the rest of the choir.

10. 1 will make allowances for the Choirmaster's occasional odd decisions. If he should wish to take a piece at the wrong tempo, I will do as he wishes, though he should expect me later to point out quietly to him that HE didn't have to sing it!

11. Finally, I will remember that all choristers were created equal, and the choir is there to glorify God, not me.
